[Poem] I Prefer A Quiet Evening
I prefer a quiet evening
To let my brain unwind
No loud mechanical gibberish
To cloud up my mind
Like a vast stretch of desert
There is room for me to dream
Without the clutter of noises
My thoughts flow like a stream
No TV or radio,
just the clicking of the clock
The occasion groan of the heater
And the furnace clicks and knocks
I prefer a quiet evening
So my mind can rest at ease
And the only lullaby I hear
Is the wind pass through the trees.
A peaceful retreat to end the day
I can drift away
To wherever my thoughts will take me
Memories come out to play
I prefer a quiet evening
So my weary limbs can mend
Beneath the comfort of a blanket
Every now and then.
