[Poem] The Playgrounds Are All Closed Today

The playgrounds are all closed today,
It's such a sad sight to see.
The monkey bars are off limits.
Can this really be?!?
The swings are hanging still,
you can only stand and shrug,
for they might be yucky with germs
and tiny little bugs.
The slides are all wrapped with tape,
it's such a peculiar sight.
The playgrounds are all closed today.
Surely this can't be right.
But it's important to keep your distance,
But that doesn't mean you can't have fun.
Winter is finally over now
and spring has finally sprung.
Can you name all the flowers
in the garden bed?
Or the the birds singing in the trees
and flying overhead?
You can play your favorite games at home,
and draw pictures with your crayons.
Build a fort made out of couch cushions,
or lend a helping hand.
I know you miss your friends at school
and the lunches that they serve.
And having Mom and Dad home all day
can get on your last nerve.
You can pretend that you are in a play
and sing all your favorite songs,
until the playgrounds are all open again,
hopefully it won't be too long.
And if you get a little tired
there is plenty of time to relax.
And try to not get too upset
when Mom and Dad eat all your snacks.
Just remember to be patient,
I know sometimes it can be hard.
But it's best to stay home right now
and play in your own back yard.
The playgrounds are all closed today,
for now you have to wait.
So make your own fun for now.
I know that you'll do great!
